Today's Ford Super Duty® is the toughest heavy-duty pickup we've ever built. We started by cutting body weight with high-strength, military-grade, aluminum alloy. We then invested some of that weight savings where it really counts - in stronger axles, beefier steering and chassis components, and a fully boxed frame built of over 95 percent high-strength steel. The result is a Super Duty that boasts class-leading payload and towing.
The Super Duty® has the only high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body in its class. Aluminum alloy is substantially lighter than the previous body, yet it's remarkably strong. It's also more dent-and-ding resistant and not subject to red rust corrosion. Use of aluminum alloy allowed some of the weight savings to be reinvested where it matters the most, especially in the frame that's the foundation of strength and toughness.
The fully boxed frame, built of over 95 percent high-strength steel with up to 10 crossmembers, is 24 times stiffer than the previous design. The frame is designed to minimize flexing and twisting while maximizing strength and torsional rigidity - and serves as the foundation for Super Duty achieving the highest payload and tow ratings in its class.
Like the fully boxed high-strength steel frame, the axles are stronger in today's generation of the Ford Super Duty® . And the Super Duty is the only pickup in its class utilizing the solid front axle on all 4x4 models. The solid axle provides strength and weight-bearing capability for operating an aftermarket front-end upfit like a heavy snowplow.
Super Duty® comes with standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC® ) and Trailer Sway Control on both single- and dual-rear-wheel models. Both systems use gyroscopic sensors and apply a combination of reduced engine power and selective wheel braking to help maintain the stability of the vehicle and the trailer in tow.
The F-450 model has the largest four-wheel anti-lock brake routers in its class - and for a very important reason. You want them to provide the sure stopping power you expect when you're out on the job hauling tons of whatever it is that's riding along with you behind the cab.
We committed this latest generation of the Super Duty® to over 12 million miles of testing, under real and simulated conditions. We also put prototype models in the hands of people like you. Our goal: Build a line of heavy-duty pickups with extraordinary performance and capability.
Super Duty® was tested at temperatures from -20 to 120 degrees. Powertrain tests replicated going up a six-degree grade over 500 miles. Super Duty was also subjected to four-post frame twists, gravel, dust, water, brine, mud baths, and even intentionally tested with worn or broken parts. Such extreme conditions often went far beyond what you would likely encounter on your toughest of jobs.
The heavy-duty pickup you'll want on your work crew is the Ford Super Duty® - and for a lot of big reasons. Best-in-class payload and conventional tow ratings - plus a gross combination weight rating that's also best in class. Super Duty delivers exceptional capability as well when it comes down to towing the really big loads, with either its maximum 5th-wheel or best-in-class gooseneck tow rating. And Super Duty offers class-exclusive Trailer Reverse Guidance that helps make maneuvering big trailers a difficult task of the past.
The Ford Super Duty® has a maximum conventional towing capacity of 21,000 pounds - higher than any other heavy-duty pickup. Super Duty features a strong fully boxed frame made of over 95 percent high-strength steel; hefty axle, suspension and driveline components; plus a factory-installed weight-carrying hitch built into the frame.
Need to tow the really big loads? Hitch up with the Ford Super Duty® and either its maximum 27,500-lb. 5th-wheel or best-in-class 35,000-lb. gooseneck tow rating. The 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Prep Package can set you up for this exceptional capability: Among the features is a 5th-wheel and gooseneck substructure attached to the frame (factory-installed on 4x4 model only). Compatible with 5th-wheel hitch kits and gooseneck hitch kits offered through the factory and Ford Custom Accessories.
The Ford Super Duty® boasts best-in-class maximum payload plus conventional and gooseneck trailer towing. But that's not all. Load up your pickup box to the max while pulling a large trailer with the best-in-class Super Duty 43,300-lb. gross combination weight rating (GCWR).
Reducing body weight by up to 350 lbs. and making the frame 24 times stiffer - together, these contribute to the 7,640-lb. maximum payload rating that's the best in its class. And Super Duty has available features to help you get the most out of all this capability: class-exclusive BoxLink™ to secure accessories, center high-mount stop lamp camera, LED box lights, class-exclusive remote tailgate release/power-locking tailgate, and class-exclusive tailgate step.
The available class-exclusive Trailer Reverse Guidance enhances visibility via cameras in the sideview mirrors and visual guides in the center dash screen. You get a clear rear view of where the trailer is going, with the guidelines changing with the movements of the steering wheel. The camera view is digitally expanded to show the direction of the truck and the trailer. Now, one difficult task on the job isn't so difficult anymore.
No longer do you have to get out of the cab to check if the tires on the trailer you're towing are properly inflated. The available class-exclusive Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System makes this information available on an in-dash display.
Available class-exclusive Adaptive Steering adjusts the steering ratio in response to vehicle speed. It adapts automatically to the driving situation, whether you're doing a low-speed maneuver like parking or backing up a trailer, or traveling at cruising speed on the highway. At lower speeds, the steering ratio increases, requiring fewer turns of the steering wheel - and less steering effort. At higher speeds, the steering ratio gradually decreases, producing a steering feel that is firmer and more controlled.
The Ford Super Duty® rules where high-torque performance means everything when you're hauling and towing huge loads. The 6.2L gas V8, with its best-in-class torque, delivers more heavy work-capable muscle. Need the severe-duty stamina of a durable, powerful diesel? Ready to join your workforce is the available Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8, the class leader in horsepower and torque.
The available B20-capable 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel V8 delivers best-in-class 450 horsepower and 935 lb.-ft. of torque. The Power Stroke features a unique inverse-flow configuration: the exhaust manifolds and turbocharger are mounted between the cylinder heads above the engine block. This inboard configuration allows a large single turbocharger to be mounted closer to the exhaust manifolds for faster air displacement and more power. Another notable feature is the compacted graphite iron engine block that is stronger yet lighter than cast iron.
No other gas-powered heavy-duty full-size pickup matches the 430 lb.-ft. of torque of the Super Duty® 6.2L Flex-Fuel V8. The 6.2L is engineered to deliver peak torque at lower rpm and generates high torque throughout the midrange of the power band. Shifting is noticeably seamless with the Ford TorqShift® G 6-speed (F-250). Plus, optional Live-Drive Power Takeoff (PTO) Provision with Mobile Mode is available with the 6.2L in the F-350.
The 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel incorporates a driver-activated engine-exhaust brake. It restricts the turbocharger's exhaust flow to generate back pressure and slow the vehicle, providing greater control while traveling downhill, regardless of vehicle load or road grade. Also, because the engine brake helps minimize having to apply pedal pressure, brake fade and lining wear are reduced, lowering the cost of maintenance. Three settings are available: On, Off, and Auto. The Auto setting modulates engine braking as needed to help maintain the speed you want based on accelerator and brake pedal use.
Available Adaptive Cruise Control slows you down as traffic ahead slows, then resumes the preset speed when traffic picks back up. The Collision Warning/Brake Support feature precharges the brakes for full responsiveness. if you don't react in time. It's integrated into the trailer brake controller for added security when you're towing a heavy load.
The 6.2L gas V8 with best-in-class torque features the Ford TorqShift® G 6-speed automatic in the F-250. Experience responsive power delivery and seamlessly smooth shifting. The SelectShift® feature includes Progressive Range Select (for overdrive lockout) plus Full Manual. Tow/Haul minimizes gear hunting uphill; downhill, it prevents upshifting and gaining speed, and reduces reliance on brake pressure to slow the vehicle.
Whether your Super Duty® runs on diesel or gas power, available is the optional class-exclusive Live-Drive Power Takeoff (PTO) Provision with Mobile Mode. An output gear connected to the crankshaft powers a PTO when the engine is running, whether in motion or stopped. Multiple accessories can be operated at the same time when the truck is stopped.
Compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane are advanced fuel options to unleaded gasoline with the CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package, available on the 6.2L gas V8. What's more, the CNG/Propane Package with the addition of the necessary upfits for bi-fuel capability enables the 6.2L V8 to run on either liquefied propane gas or unleaded gas. The 6.2L V8 is a flex-fuel engine, capable of running on E85 (85% ethanol, 15% regular gasoline); the available 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel is B20-capable (20% biodiesel, 80% petrodiesel).
Today's Super Duty® is the hardest-working Ford heavy-duty pickup ever. But while your truck is built to work hard, available technologies such as BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Tow, Trailer Reverse Guidance and SYNC® 3 help you work smarter and more productively. These are optional features you can get on any Super Duty from the base XL to the top-of-the-line Limited model.
Optional cameras enhance visibility for on-site tasks. Four High-definition 180/360-degree cameras displaying all sides of the truck. Class-exclusive Trailer Reverse Guidance with visual guides along both sides for an enhanced view of where the trailer is going. Customer-placed rear trailer camera. And center high-mount stop lamp camera for viewing the pickup bed, helpful when hooking up to a 5th-wheel or gooseneck hitch.
You'll appreciate the convenience of Super Duty® interior design when you need to carry cargo and other items inside the cab. Both the SuperCab and Crew Cab models have a class-exclusive rear flat load floor that helps make it easy to load large cargo. The SuperCab features rear hinged doors that open 170 degrees for easy loading. And the four-door Crew Cab offers an available class-exclusive folding lockable under-seat box (shown) for storing loose items or things you'd want to keep concealed and secure.
Only in a Ford Super Duty® will you find the available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Tow. BLIS signals you in the outside mirror when a vehicle is detected in a blind spot - and provides coverage for the truck you're driving as well as the trailer you're towing. The Cross-Traffic Alert feature (for the truck only) can detect a vehicle passing behind when you're slowly backing out of a driveway or parking place.
Ford Super Duty® provides the tools you need to finish any job, day or night. The available class-exclusive BoxLink system has structurally reinforced box sides for attaching and tying down various kinds of cargo. The four interface plates can be configured to accommodate many available Ford and aftermarket accessories from aftermarket storage bins to stowable loading ramps. The four lockable, removable cleats provide additional locations to tie down cargo safely and securely. And that's not all. Working after the sun sets is no problem with the available LED lamps illuminating the box.
The class-exclusive remote tailgate release with power remote-locking opens the tailgate with the key fob. Lock, unlock and lower it, hands-free. When activated, the tailgate gradually lowers to a flat position. Available only with the Ford Super Duty®.
The class-exclusive integrated tailgate step with tailgate assist makes it easier to access all of the payload the Super Duty® can carry. The step and handle are stowed inside the tailgate and can be easily accessed when needed.
SYNC® 3 is our easy-to-use, responsive voice-activated technology. Discover the system's quick reactions to your conversational voice commands. Experience the smartphone-like touchscreen with impressive responsiveness. You'll also find a sleek user-friendly interface to help you connect to and control your smartphone. Locate your favorite restaurants with simple destination entry via the optional navigation. SYNC 3 is fast, smart and easy to use.
With FordPass Connect, drivers and passengers can enjoy an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot. It features a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, powered by AT&T. Up to 10 devices can connect at once, and you can use FordPass to keep track of your Wi-Fi data usage. Also, you can access the hotspot from up to fifty feet outside the vehicle.
